Mindfulness: A Definition
When you hear the word mindfulness, what do you think of? How do you personally define mindfulness?
For me, beyond the commonly accepted definition that has to do with having my attention rooted in the present moment without judgment (We have Jon Kabat-Zinn to thank for this definition.), it is about being in a state of objective, open observation toward all that is happening in and around me. It also encompasses a feeling of playful curiosity--almost childlike in nature.
Putting such a rich and varied phenomenon into words is anything but simple. Please share your own definitions of mindfulness in the comments below. Let's see what kind of tapestry we come up with!
